Heartlight

Heartlight, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

My apologies up front for any soft rock songs that get stuck in your head (Neil Diamond's Heartlight) but what else could I call this? My neighbor made this heart-shaped display of red mite-lights and I saw it coming home from the chiropractor. I like the glow in the snow. Processed this through Schloss' Bleach Bypass 1 preset in Aperture.

Red Sleeve

Red Sleeve, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

A sleeve on the back of a "suede" shirt I have. The camera definitely has trouble when dealing with large areas of a single color. The shot came out orange and I had to change the hue post process.

The stairwell of the parking garage in Portsmouth, NH. I've always liked the red and yellow paint scheme.

Hanging Weight

An old mill building in Dover, NH with fire escape stairs going down the back. This pulley and weight keep the bottom-most portion of the stairs up from the ground. I like what Toy Camera preset did with the bricks and boarded windows.

Spectrum

This is a macro shot of a visible light spectrum that was showing on the wall of my office this morning.

You really need to click through to see the shot of the suncatcher that made this spectrum.

Ready to Write

Mug of hot chocolate, pen, and cool-looking journal. I'm attending a free fiction workshop tonight at the local bookstore. I liked what the Toy Camera preset did with the red on the cover.

Dead Soldier

Dead Soldier, originally uploaded by srcleaves.
008/365

A toy soldier Christmas decoration that someone apparently tossed off Memorial Bridge and which is now stranded on the river ice until Spring.

This makes me think of my grandfather - a military man - for two reasons: 1) he always had toy soldier decorations leading up the front steps of his home at Christmas, and 2) at family gatherings empty bottles were known as dead soldiers.
