Dover Bokeh

Dover Bokeh, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

118/365

Shot from the top of Garrison Hill Tower toward downtown Dover with focus set very close. I think I should have used a larger aperture but I do like how many lights there are and the colors.

Spring Color

Saw this in a little patch of flowers outside the office and thought it was a nice example of Spring finally having arrived here.

Dashglow

Dashglow, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

115/365

My car has a lot of red light on the dashboard and some blue light from the roof. So here I am (safely parked behind my apartment) trying to hold a smile for 15 seconds :)

Tree and Rocks

Tree and Rocks, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

114/365

What better place than Newcastle Common to go on a nice(ish) day? The tide was out so I was down on the rocks and this really nice tree stand all by itself at the peninsula.

Olivia's Comforter

Olivia's Comforter, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

113/365

When I change the sheets on the bed I just pile the comforter in the corner. Olivia immediately finds a nook to move into. Since I'm a pushover I let her stay until she tires of it.

"You might not ever get rich. But lemme tell ya it's better than diggin' a ditch... Workin' at the car wash."

I just liked the name of these vacuums and thought they were colorful and would make a good low-light shot.

Shot of the Kittery, ME side of the Piscataqua River using the in-camera tilt-shift simulation. It was so incredibly windy when I took this. For those who know the area, Warrens is to the left, just out of frame.

Cold and bitter outside tonight so I thought I'd do something from my idea list.

Cocheco River and Mills

Cocheco River and Mills, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

109/365

I believe the building on the right is called the Washington St Mill, and the building in the distance on the left is the Cocheco Mill, but it is definitely the Cocheco River that has been smoothed out of the long exposure.

Dover Time-Lapse

Dover Time-Lapse, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

107/365

This is a time-lapse I made from the top of Garrison Hill Tower of downtown Dover, NH. As you can see it is primarily about the cloud movement. It is incredibly windy up there and the tripod probably moved a bit but I think the results are quite good.

Out the Window

105/365

The only shot I took today was of this squirrel as he was eating the buds off the tree outside my office window. Seems a strange behavior for a creature who lives in trees.

RiRa HDR

RiRa HDR, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

104/365

Normally I don't use the scene modes but this beautiful dome on the ceiling of RiRa in Portsmouth (it used to be the dome of a bank) is so nice and I wanted to get some of the ceiling around it to expose without blowing the dome out. So I tried the built-in HDR mode in the Canon S95. It definitely did a better job than just exposing for the dome itself, but the ceiling is still pretty dark.

North from Garrison Hill Tower

North from Garrison Hill Tower, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

102/365

This is a view roughly North from the top of the Garrison Hill Tower. I took this photo using a black card to mask the sky for most of the shot. This is because the sky is a lot brighter than the rest of the scene. It is fun but quite a challenge to get something that works especially with quickly changing light. This is SOOC.

Mill Reflection

Mill Reflection, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

The mill building that covers the Cocheco River and its reflection. Sky was pretty blown so I had to do a lot of recovery work.

General Sullivan Bridge

General Sullivan Bridge, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

098/365

Shot from the Dover side of the bridge. For those not from the area this is really the only way from Dover, NH to Portsmouth and it is undergoing a widening project. You really only see 1 but there are 3 cranes in between the old bridge, and the current bridge.

Water, Reflection, and Shadow

Water, Reflection, and Shadow, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

097/365

The Cocheco River was surprisingly calm this morning when I walked over the bridge so I took a few reflection shots. I chose this because it gives more context but I will post a shot of just the big tree as well.

Dunkin' Donuts

Dunkin' Donuts, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

095/365

I go to this Dunkin' Donuts nearly every day on my way to work. I know they recognize me, but they never seem to remember what I get. That's fine, I'd probably change my order if they did.

My grandfather used to come to our house on Saturdays and bring a dozen doughnuts from Dunk with him. That was always a big deal for me. I often think of him when I get my morning coffee, even though I didn't drink coffee back then.

Conversations

Conversations, originally uploaded by srcleaves.

093/365

The cafe and beautiful, huge open space at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. Anyone who has followed by photostream knows I don't usually have people in my shots but I felt very inspired by this space and the art I'd seen. It is a longish exposure of 1/6th second so there is some blur in people's movements.
